Media Podcast comparison

1. Steve Lamacq's roundtable

The podcast that we listened to that was produced by him came across as formal at first then once he introduced his guests he started to 'loosen up' and be more relaxed with his talking and how he talked to both his guests and his friends. He starts off the podcast with a quick introduction for himself and then a few seconds he later he introduced a song and played that song for a few minutes until the song ended then he introduced his guests who didn't really give an intro they more or less just said "hi" or "Hey" which is good because it shows that they are relaxed with there job. Throughout the podcast, Steve and the guests talk to each other like they are a couple of mates having a conversation. His tone is generally informal and he has I kind of smooth but interested tone when he talks about issues or stuff that may have occurred in the news. There isn't a lot of music or sound FX in this podcast apart from the song that he played at the beginning there are no added effects or music later on. The presenter relaxed as said before and you can tell he enjoys the company of his guests by the way that they laugh a lot and make jokes frequently.

2. Plugged In Movie review

The podcast begins with an introduction of the host and he also introduces the co-host who goes on to talk in detail about the films: 'The dark tower' and 'The Emoji movie'. The host and the guest discuss family-friendly films and what makes a family-friendly film which is key for a film to appeal to all. His Guest then goes onto explain what the film may be about, the films backstory and who may have written/produced it. After this point, the listener may become bored as the guest begins to go on and on out these two films which take up the majority of the podcast. The presenters are about half relaxed and half formal in that they are relaxed with their conversation but they make an effort to talk professionally towards each other. There are also no other types of music or sound added throughout the podcast.

Comparison:

The first podcast is more friendly and has a more relaxed feel with his guests and the audience whilst the second podcast was more formal in the way that the podcaster felt like he was telling the audience something and wasn't like chatting to they like they were there. You can also tell that the second podcaster was more nervous by the way that he was very formal. With the first podcast, the host and his guests sounded better meaning they have better equipment, unlike the second podcast who had worse mics this can affect the experience of the audience and maybe be put off from the podcast. Overall the first podcast was better quality and higher production but if you are interested in movie reviews then obviously the second podcast is for you, but personally, I prefer the first due to the high quality and the accents.

Media Podcast comparison

Top ten tips & tricks for a podcast:

1. Have high-quality microphones for the listener's experience and for the podcast to just sound so much better after all your voice is the most important thing in a podcast.

2. Make sure to have a confident and prominent voice so that the listener can hear you and so that the microphone can pick up your voice, and also have a positive note to your voice so the listener isn't speaking to a monotone voice that will eventually become boring.

3. Include some humor into your podcast so you can keep the audience entertained and interested

4. Have a quality jingle that doesn't go on for too long throughout a segment of the podcast.

5. Try to have more than one opinions of something imparticular so you can have pros and cons of some type of media e.g music/album, game or tv.film,

6. Break up your commentary so that your review or your talk show isn't one big boring text, possibly include the guest a couple of times whilst you are speaking.

7. Make sure to have some sort of structure plan so that you have a starting and finishing point so that you won't go on for hours.

8. Don't include too many sound effects otherwise, that can eventually become annoying for the listener

9. Decide whether your podcast will be written or not. Although written is easier it can make you sound a bit boring as you are reading, and not giving your actual opinions at that point in time.

10. Add a slightly serious tone when possible explaining the product because you might not be taken seriously if you seem relaxed and jokey all the time.

Intro: Ident Jingle( yet to be decided) / 5 seconds Hello everyone and welcome to LR radio, I hope you are having a wonderful morning, afternoon or evening or whenever you are listening! Today we will be going over a quick review over the second Inbetweener’s film and analyse the pros and cons of the film.

Topic introduction: The Inbetweeners is a teens film that revolves around 4 uni lads who have decided to take a gap year to Australia to meet their friend Jay who brags about living the high life when really he is working minimum wage in a toilet whilst living in a tent in his uncles garden. The group go through some embarrassing moments and thrilling experiences, the film contains heartbreak, fights, jealousy, happiness, excitement and determination.

Synopsis: The Inbetweeners two is set in Australia and is about 3 lads who decide to visit a friend (jay) who is temporarily living in Australia with his uncle. on the way there they meet with a crowd of old hippy friends who have come to Australia for some sort of spiritual trip.

Facts: Inbetweeners 2 is based around the tv series and the previous film involving the existing 4 main characters ( Jay, Neil, Will and Simon) as well as new characters such as Katie, Ben and the return of jane and Lucy from the previous film. The film is set about 2-3 years later after the Tv series and about 1 year after the first film. It was filmed in 2014 and was set in many locations such as the Gold coast, Byron Bay, Ballina Shire, Bristol, Gatwick airport, "the outback",  etc.

Opinion: I personally think that the film is very humorous and would easily appeal to the younger and older audiences who have a good but possibly sick taste of humour as the film contains dirty images and jokes of other sexual acts. I think that the age range of the film would be between 15-35 cos it would take a younger audience to understand half of the humour that the actors go on to quote and reference to later on. Another side of the film could be that it is not very appropriate for a youth audience due to the visual nudity and foul humour. Overall I would highly rate the film to anyone my age and possibly to older adults who have a flexible taste in humour.

INTERVIEW (60-90 SECS)

Different opinion ( Language and music): The type of language that they use is supposed to be relatable to the youth audience in the way that they have a sort of chav accent and experience the same type of situations that a young teen may be pressured into or accidentally got themselves into. The music is also relatable to a younger/millennial audience because it is mainly punk rock or chilled rock with moments of electronic music and possible rap. This type of music is to show their youth and to put the emphasis 'teen film'. The majority of the language that they use is explicit but in most situations, it can actually make the sentence funnier due to the increase in sarcasm or anger.

VOXPOX (20-30 SECS)

Outro summary: So that is The Inbetweeners 2. If you haven't watched the film and you are a fan of childish humour then the inbetweener's
is a great film for you and a recommended must watch. Thank you for listening to LR radio and I will see you next time!
